Disponible

Montevideo, Uruguay
2024

Disponible is an invitation to share a table and enjoy the world of wine. In an intense search for materials forgotten by the industry, together with VDV Arquitectura, we transformed a vacant space on the ground floor of Florida Building into a venue for a series of unique edition gatherings.

Each month, Disponible renews its wine and gastronomic proposal to explore different landscapes and experiment with new ways of connecting people with their surroundings. It offers an intimate and mindful perspective on what is available—ranging from the grapes that capture the essence of a territory to the materials that shape the architectural space where we share a glass.

What does the landscape offer us, and how can we appreciate it?

In a vibrant area of downtown Montevideo, Disponible occupies a vacant space on the ground floor of Edificio Florida, the mixed-use parking structure we inaugurated in 2022. On certain nights, the light inside turns on, revealing blurred images behind the translucent threshold that mediates its activities with the street outside.

Inside, a maximum of 20 people gather around a large table measuring 5.8 meters long by 1.2 meters wide, designed from the discovery of two imposing slabs of reddish marble. The table rests on 16 legs, sourced by sectioning two recovered concrete light poles from a materials graveyard.

The small kitchen and service module are concealed behind a simple steel-framing partition with exposed profiles and a unique cladding: what at first glance appears to be an ordinary perforated sheet is actually the leftover steel plate from the cutting of galvanized washers—the negative that is typically discarded.

From the selection of wine labels to the design of the space, everything in Disponible invites exploration of the surroundings in a conscious way, celebrating the beauty of found materials.
